1. What are Microservices?<\/strong><\/h4>\nMicroservices\u00a0 or microservice architecture is an approach to application development where the application is broken down as a set of services. Each of these services would be running in its own process. Also each service is independent of other services. However, there would be communication between the services.<\/p>\n
The following are properties of microservices:<\/p>\n
\n- Each service is independently deployable<\/li>\n
- Services are loosely coupled<\/li>\n
- Arranges around the business requirements<\/li>\n
- Highly testable and maintainable<\/li>\n
- Each service can be implemented with a different technology<\/li>\n
- Communication between services<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

2. How to Create Microservices<\/strong><\/h4>\nI’m currently working on Microservices Video Tutorial. This would be made available in my YouTube Channel. <\/a><\/p>\nYou can subscribe so you get notified when the lessons are made. But for now, I will give an overview on how to create microservices. Also, I would let you know the tools you need.<\/p>\n

3. Benefits of Microservices<\/strong><\/h4>\nBelow are the\u00a0 benefits of Microservices:<\/p>\n
(a) Easier to test:<\/strong> With microservices, each service can be tested independent of other services<\/p>\n(b) Faster development:<\/strong> Microservices IDE are faster relative to monolithic IDEs<\/p>\n(c) Improved maintainability:<\/strong> Each microservice is small in size and therefore easy to modify when necessary<\/p>\n(d) Faster deployment:<\/strong> Since each service can be deployed independently, lesser bottleneck are encountered in deployment<\/p>\n(e) Better performance:<\/strong> Being lightweight makes microservices perform relatively better<\/p>\n(f) Development effort is reduced:<\/strong> You only need to develop services relevant to business objectives<\/p>\n(g) Better fault Isolation:<\/strong> In this case, particular service that creates some fault can easily be isolated and handled<\/p>\n(h) Breaks down complex application into simpler services:<\/strong> So microservices are less complex than a single monolithic application<\/p>\n(i) Continuous delivery can be achieved:<\/strong> Microservices can be deployed as soon as development is completed on that particular service.<\/p>\n(j) Removes long term commitment to technology stack:<\/strong> Each service could be provisioned with a different technology.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n![\"Microservice](\"https:\/\/www.kindsonthegenius.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Microservices.jpg\")

4. Challenges of Microservices<\/strong><\/h4>\nYou can find some of the challenges of microservices below:<\/p>\n
Complexity of distributed system:<\/strong> Microservices architecture corresponds to building a distributed system. Hence, added complexity<\/p>\nDeployment Complexity.<\/strong> This is because, you need to have a model for deployment of several services.<\/p>\nHigher consumption of memory<\/strong>: Microservices reside in memory called images and\u00a0 runs instances called containers.<\/p>\nTools\/IDEs for development<\/strong>: Tools for development of microservices are not as available as conventional tools and IDEs<\/p>\nMaintaining data consistency:<\/strong> Each microservice need to access data at some point. This can be achieved by creating a database for each service. This in turn leads to issue of maintaining data consistency across services. This is shown in Figure 2.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
